Overview
Ectoparasites is the first instalment of the two part module 'Clinical Information for Support Staff'.  As dogs, cats and rabbits make up the majority of the animals seen in companion animal practice this course will discuss fleas, ticks and fly strike giving the learner valid information regarding the importance of preventative care.  This course does not discuss specific treatment as this can vary greatly between practices and cases.  This presentation will compliment other courses from Chunk Training such as "Endoparasites" and "Is it an Emergency?".

Target Audience
This course is aimed at non-clinical staff to help gain and improve knowledge of common ectoparasites found in the UK allowing them to convey the information to a client at a basic level.  This course may also be appropriate for clinical staff in order to give an insight as to the level of knowledge the client care team has on the subject.

What You Will Learn
Non-clinical staff may be most likely candidate for a client to discuss ectoparasites with and whilst the diagnosis and treatment options are the responsibility of a veterinary surgeon the client care team should all have a basic understanding and be able to answer questions.  This course will go through life cycles of fleas and ticks as well as the importance of preventative treatments.

The course is delivered by Liz, a virtual teacher who will deliver the content originally written by Liz Watkins (MRCVS), a veterinary surgeon with almost 40 years of experience although the content and wording is appropriate for non-clinical staff.
