Develop your knowledge and understanding of feline lower urinary tract disease (FLUTD). This is a one-part course that can also be taken as part of the FLUTD and idiopathic cystitis course bundle.

This module looks at pathogenesis, diagnosis, treatment, prevention and outcomes of FLUTD in cats, including:
Cause – majority of cases are idiopathic, but specific causes include: urolithiasis, urethral plugs, anatomical defects, neoplasia, bacterial cystitis, behavioral problems.
Signs – dysuria, hematuria, inappropriate urination.
Diagnosis: client history, urinalysis, radiography/ultrasound, biochemistry.
Treatment – no specific therapy.
Prognosis – good, most cases resolve with or without treatment, however, up to 50% of cats may have recurrent episodes which may be of different etiology.
